Welcome to the Models Direct blog. Models Direct are one of the UK’s biggest modelling agencies and specialise in connecting models with clients and modelling jobs. This month we thought we should look at two celebrities that we love and learn about how fame caused problems in their lives, perhaps hoping to learn some lessons. The world finds talent, stardom and beauty irresistible and those who have these qualities are considered special and above the crowd. Celebs appear to have everything that anyone could ever want in life.

Whitney Houston , one of the most beautiful actresses and talented singers ever married retired star Bobby Brown in 1992 at the height of her career. Due to her drug problems, it might not have been the best move to get together with someone with issues of his own. Through their tumultuous marriage, Whitney’s drug abuse only became worse. They divorced in 2007 at a time when Houston was about to record a new album and her life seemed to be going well. She appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s show two years later and gave an interview that was noted as being one of the most outspoken. Houston admitted to the world that her drug addiction got out of control after the thundering success of The Bodyguard in 1992. Her world tour in 2010 didn’t salvage her career, though. Her fans were disappointed at the performance and the quality of her voice. She also received numerous negative responses from critics. While she did go to rehab, she never overcame her habit. In 2012, under the influence of cocaine, marijuana and other drugs, she drowned in her bath. Despite this sad end, Whitney Houston is one of the world’s best-selling singers with more than 200 million records sold.

Britney Spears is one of those rare people who start out as a child star. Many models also start as children but Britney has also made the transformation to stardom as an adult. Britney started her career at the age of 11. At this time she was picked for The New Mickey Mouse Club with other later to be famous stars such as Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. After that show she focused on her solo career. After releasing her first single in 1998 and becoming a worldwide sensation, she somehow let her life unravel. In 2004 her reputation and name was ruined due to a strange two day marriage with Jason Alexander. She then had a scandalous love affair with a backup dancer. In that same year she married him and gave birth to their first son. However, their marriage didn’t last long and after the birth of their second son divorce proceedings began. Britney Spears was acknowledged to be mentally ill giving her ex-husband full custody over their children. She has since made a great recovery and we wish her continued success. The Truth about Children’s Growing Pains

We all remember those long nights of agony as our leg bones grew and our muscles struggled to keep up. This pain is experienced by the majority of children, and most often in the legs. Growing pain is not a medical condition or a disease that needs treated by a doctor. The pain is almost always gone by morning because we grow the most at night. They are a normal part of childhood and when it happens your child will benefit from comfort, attention and a motherly touch.

The most common childhood growing pains are sharp, throbbing pains in the legs, typically occurring at night and sometimes in late afternoon. Occasionally, the pains can be strong enough to wake a child. Between 25 and 40 percent of children between three and five years, and again between the ages of 8 and 12, experience these night time aches. If they indeed do not happen during the day then the chances are very high that they are simply growing pains and no further attention is needed. Modelling photo shoots are sometimes called off if the baby is distraught and feeling these pains. They happen almost at random and can just come out of the blue. There are some things you can do though to soften the discomfort. Massaging increases the blood flow to the growing tissues and bones and will take some attention away from the pain. Heated pads or warm hot water bottles will dull the pain too following by gentle stretching and moving to get things settled into place.

When trying these things pay close attention to your child’s reactions. If the area appears tender or hypersensitive it may be an indicator that something else is happening. They should be comforted by your touch. Growing pains are a muscular ache, not an inflammation, more like a stretching. Tenderness in the joints or pain when touched heralds a quick visit to your GP. These classic “growing pains” are different from pain associated with the rapid growth during the time period surrounding puberty. Increased bone growth outpaces muscle and tendon flexibility, causing new stresses on attachments to certain growth areas on the bone. Pain and swelling can occur and interfere with activities and sports. Inflammation of the growth plates is called apophysitis. The most common areas affected are the knee and heel, and the pain can fluctuate during the 2 to 3 years of rapid growth. Treatment includes flexibility exercises, local ice application, and altering activities during the painful days. Many modelling advice companies and agencies will encourage regular check ups from the GP if they feel that illness may affect your availability the health of your child.

Models Direct: Who Wears Short Shorts?

When Aaduki Multimedia came to Models Direct looking for a male promotional model they needed someone who wouldn’t mind showing some flesh! It was toned model Jake who was selected to wear the company’s tiny shorts, handing out promotional material at an event.


“It felt great to be a model for the day,” Jake told us in his feedback. “Felt a bit self conscious at first as was only wearing small shorts but soon got into it. Would feel find doing it again! I was asked to hand out promotional bags for the company and have photos taken with people and for the company.

Female Models Meet and Greet at Corporate Day Out

When one of the models selected for a promotional modelling assignment at a golf day was unable to make it, model Heidi was more than happy to fill in. She worked at the golf day, along with model Laura, meeting and greeting participants at the event.

“I was really pleased to be asked attend this job and really enjoyed it,” Heidi informed Models Direct in her feedback. “It involved interacting with participants at a corporate golfing day and was a really nice atmosphere.”

“It was fun and friendly” Laura agreed. “Lovely place to work and it was nice to chat and meet new people. Meet and greet was all we had to do so felt very relaxed.”

Models Direct Model Plays the Blushing Bride

Being paid to dress up as a beautiful bride is no doubt the dream job for many women and for model Ayshat it turned into reality! She spent one summer morning modelling for Siobhain Moriarty.

It was the third assignment for Ayshat with Models Direct who said this about the assignment: “It was the best time I spent with any of the clients! I absolutely enjoyed in, thank you.”

Siobhain was also impressed with the model she selected. When asked how the assignment went she gave Models Direct a great response. “The model Ayshat was excellent and a really nice person to work with,” she told us. “I am delighted with the results and I’m glad to have had this experience, would definitely book another model again!”

Models Direct: A Day Out in London

Back in June, four lucky child models were chosen to take part in a photo shoot at the Natural History Museum in London for children’s clothing company Vintage Kit.

After the museum it was on to Hyde Park for more photos. Although it was a long day for the young models, their parents gave us some positive feedback.

“Eniz had a great day on the Vintage Kit photo shoot,” her dad Besh commented. “The contact on the day was very understanding and very patient with the young children on the assignment…”

A Relaxed Assignment for Models Direct

Recently, two our female models, Natalie and Helen, were chosen to take part in an advertising photo shoot for Deluxe Beds. From their feedback it sounds like they both had loads of fun.


“It was great being a model for the day, I enjoyed it loads and got on great with the people there,” Natalie informed Models Direct in her feedback. “The best things about the assignment were the people and doing the modelling.”

“I had a fab day, everybody was very welcoming!” Helen agreed. “Can’t wait to do it again.”

“I Had a Great Time” Says Models Direct’s Mareaka

Photographer Alex Hibbert was really happy with the model he selected to take part in a lifestyle photo shoot for his portfolio. It was model Mareaka who was selected and despite it being her first assignment with Models Direct she obviously performed well!

“I had a great time working with Alex,” Mareaka told us. “It was a very relaxed and fun photo shoot, so a great way to get started. I have already seen the photos and I am really impressed with how they came out.”
