Fashion icon Twiggy says she’s “shocked” to still be modelling

In a recent interview with publication ‘Good Housekeeping’, the 59-year old star talked about her surprise at still having a place in the modelling industry now that she’s nearing 60.

“It’s weird, isn’t it? I never dreamed this modelling thing would happen again. Who would? It’s normally a young person’s game,” she told them. “But I’m proud to be part of the M&S campaign and it’s right to get someone of my age modelling clothes as well as young models. There are a large number of over-40s who are fashion led.”

First discovered in the sixties, Twiggy returned to her career in modelling in 2005, when she was approached by high-street department store chain Marks & Spencer to front their latest advertising campaign. The promotion was a roaring success, and she has been with the company ever since, working with Myleene Klass and boyband Take That at different times.

She says: “Getting upset about ageing is pointless. I’m fine with what I look like. I exercise, I eat well, but I’m not fanatical because you’ve got to have a life.”

Here at Models Direct, we think it’s wonderful to see older models still active in their careers, and are glad to see such an ageless beauty so comfortable with what she looks like!

Models Direct: Trend Alert - Linen!

It is official, despite the dismal weather recently, that linen is the latest trend to be spotted in.

Lightweight, cool and ‘smart/casual’, you can find everything in this material, from trousers to hats, and if you can avoid the ‘creased look’ you’ll look great.

Vogue recommend Acne, Balmain, Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant which can be found at:
